Lisa & Ben were married in a beautiful ceremony at Cashmere Presbyterian Church, and marked their marriage with a Unity Candle ceremony (first time I’d come across this and I love it!). The light streaming in the church windows was gorgeous, something I’m always happy to see!
After the ceremony the Bridal Party and I took off to Victoria Park for the creative shots. Despite the forecast not looking wonderful Christchurch once again turned up the heat (I think all but 2 weddings so far this season have been on really hot days!) and we had a gorgeous sunny afternoon and blue skies to set off the ochre hills.
The reception was at The Chateau On The Park, which photography-wise can be a challenging venue – the very high, very dark ceiling means it’s one of those places that absorbs flash rather than projecting it. Part of my job that I love is taking what should be a challenge and making a feature of it. In this case once the dancing had started I could play around with flash & ambient light balance as well as balancing movement & arrested motion to capture images with a bright/happy/crazy/party atmosphere which is exactly what the night was!
