Here’s my highlights from Michaela & Kurt’s stunning autumn wedding!
The first look & bridal party photographs were shot at the Christchurch Botanic Gardens where the warm rich autumn foliage was a gorgeous backdrop. I just love the soft, warm light at this time of the year, and the richness and saturation of colour that you can achieve in the landscape while still maintaining lovely soft skin tones.
The ceremony & first dance photographs were shot at Langdales Vineyard Restaurant where the ceremony was officiated by the fabulous Debbie Hawker. The sun was just dropping down behind the row of trees directly behind Michaela & Kurt during the ceremony, so while there was a lovely soft golden light I knew I’d be risking glare and washout if the sun was coming straight down the lens for the first kiss – I really wanted to get a straight-on shot of the couple’s first kiss so I moved into the arbour where I got a great shot of the first kiss with their families and other guests in the background, all perfectly lit by the soft golden glow of the sun.
Lynne & Tom’s wedding was held in his parent’s spectacular rose garden in Tai Tapu, and it was the perfect setting for a touching and sweet ceremony surrounded by their friends, family, and their gorgeous wee boy. We had a few photographs on site in the gardens, and then had time to stop off at a few spots around Tai Tapu on the way to the reception.
Sheridan & Angus’ were blessed with fabulous weather for their simply stunning wedding, at Melton Estate. Sheridan’s choice of vintage styling for her hair, dress, and accessories was complimented beautifully by the wonderful setting at the ceremony & reception (venue styling by Cressy Lane).
Sheridan & Angus wanted to go off-site for their bridal photographs, so we went to nearby Greystones (Old West Coast Road), and had the bridal shoot in Millie’s wonderful garden.
The reception back at Melton Estate was elegant and touching, finishing with a first dance that was just: WOW!

Earlier this year I was asked to photograph a Black Tie dinner event, when Vision Systems were celebrating their 10th Anniversary at The Tannery.
What an amazing space this was to photograph in – the atrium ceiling gives beautiful even light, and the styling of the space makes for beautiful layering of focus.
Hannah & Yasmin tied the knot on Sumner Beach in front of Cave Rock. The weather on their wedding day wasn’t perfect, but they were determined to have their ceremony on the beach – rain or shine! They had some massive umbrellas in case the drizzle didn’t clear, but as luck would have it, the weather cleared just in time, leaving moody skies and somewhat miraculously… a tourist-free beach!
Yasmin’s sari is by far my favourite wedding dress from this season, so luxe! It set the opulent gold and black theme that was carried over into the reception at The Beach Bar nearby.

Roberta & Brett had their two gorgeous sons as groomsboys, so to get them at their best we had the bridal party photographs at Trents Estate Vineyard before heading to All Saints Church in nearby Prebbleton for the ceremony.
Bert & Brett were such a wonderful couple to photograph: they were easy to capture having a laugh, or a cuddle, and so natural in front of the camera that their images have a very “real” feel to them. What you see is what you get, and what you get is two happy people, dedicated parents, and best friends.
After the ceremony, it was back to Trents for the reception, where the kids had a wonderful surprise waiting for them: Melanie Poppins! She’d brought her bag of magic tricks, and plenty of balloons & bubbles to entertain the kids. Her “assistant”, Harry Potter the rabbit, kept even the very wee kids captivated.

Some highlights from the gorgeous wedding of Kayla & Damon. These 2 were SO MUCH FUN to work with, and their families & friends were amazing too.
Favourite moments from the day… too many to list, but here’s a few: the boys arriving (they almost didn’t make it…. the car was overheating), laughing, nearly crying during the ceremony (I’m a sook), laughing again, paua fritters, and the massive hug Kayla gave me when I left.
Here are some of my favourite shots from Alyssa & Nate’s whimsical wedding at The Iris Garden in Motukarara.
Alyssa told me that their wedding would be anything but typical, and she was so right. Their day was a perfect expression of the two of them: quirky, elegant, joyful, and so full of love. I’m still not sure how, but Alyssa even managed to look effortlessly elegant lounging on the bouncy castle!
