Here’s my highlights from Michaela & Kurt’s stunning autumn wedding!
The first look & bridal party photographs were shot at the Christchurch Botanic Gardens where the warm rich autumn foliage was a gorgeous backdrop. I just love the soft, warm light at this time of the year, and the richness and saturation of colour that you can achieve in the landscape while still maintaining lovely soft skin tones.
The ceremony & first dance photographs were shot at Langdales Vineyard Restaurant where the ceremony was officiated by the fabulous Debbie Hawker. The sun was just dropping down behind the row of trees directly behind Michaela & Kurt during the ceremony, so while there was a lovely soft golden light I knew I’d be risking glare and washout if the sun was coming straight down the lens for the first kiss – I really wanted to get a straight-on shot of the couple’s first kiss so I moved into the arbour where I got a great shot of the first kiss with their families and other guests in the background, all perfectly lit by the soft golden glow of the sun.
This wedding season has seen me spend a LOT of time on the road (moving 4 hours drive away will do that!!). I haven’t always had the time to stop and capture the moment if the scenery was photo-worthy, but a week or so ago as I was travelling through Waipara I had the time – and, as luck would have it – it was golden hour.
This stretch of lonely road, looked gorgeous in the golden light. Omihi, near Waipara, really is quite stunning.
Ian & Fiona’s wedding was at Braemar Lodge near Hanmer Springs. Their day was so full of love, and so many tender moments it was just such a pleasure to photograph.
Mountain views, tussocks, and a wonderfully lovely couple… all up it was a simply stunning day!
Living in Dunedin we’re now treated to some amazing wildlife viewing opportunities, just this morning we went for a walk along Aramoana beach and came across several snoozing sea lions! Judging by the tracks in the sand if we’d been there a bit earlier then we’d have seen many more as well.
Look at those teeth!!!

Some highlights from the gorgeous wedding of Kayla & Damon. These 2 were SO MUCH FUN to work with, and their families & friends were amazing too.
Favourite moments from the day… too many to list, but here’s a few: the boys arriving (they almost didn’t make it…. the car was overheating), laughing, nearly crying during the ceremony (I’m a sook), laughing again, paua fritters, and the massive hug Kayla gave me when I left.
It’s been ages since I’ve updated the blog, but I’m really excited to share these images. Brie & Tom’s day was simply magical, and I’m so pleased that my images captured the love, vibrancy and intimacy of their backyard marquee wedding so well.
Hair (Terri McRae) & Make Up (Angela Robyn) was a super relaxed affair in the lovely brick courtyard of Brie & Tom’s South Brighton cottage. Once the girls were looking gorgeous we made a short hop up the road to Southshore where Tom was waiting at the end of a wee pier for a magical First Look moment, before the whole gang headed to Mona Vale for a champagne picnic and a few photographs in amongst the wonderful gardens.
The ceremony and reception were held in a marquee in Tom’s parents backyard, in Burnside. Backyard weddings are always great fun, they’re intimate, relaxed, and all about celebrating love with family and friends, exactly the kind of gathering that must have meant a lot to Brie & Tom having only recently returned back to Christchurch from the UK.
After speeches and cutting the “cake” of cheeses it was funky party dancing time…
Here are only some of my favourite moments from Brie & Tom’s day (click to enlarge)…

Ashleigh & her girls had their hair & make-up done at Merivale Manor, and we made the most of the beautiful manor with some glamourous shots on the balconies and beautiful rooms.
A limo-ride through the countryside later and we arrived at Darjon Vineyard for their ceremony. With the weather a smidge less than perfect the ceremony was held inside, but luckily the drizzle cleared juuuust enough to allow for some outdoor photographs later on. The vineyard looked super lush and vibrant with a top up from the rainy day, and the bridal party were more than happy to get in amongst the sodden vines and grass for some fun & games with a nerf-gun!
Ashleigh looked amazing in her lace covered vintage-glam gown, and Grant complimented her perfectly in a dapper maroon (or is that colour-of-the-moment Marsala?!) suit. Their ceremony was full of laughter and you can just tell from looking at them that they have amazing chemistry, and are best friends as well as partners. I loved working with these two, they just look super happy together!
Here’s my highlights from their January wedding…
Karyn & Phil’s ceremony was held at The Elms Hotel in Papanui. Their vows and readings reflected their love of movies, a theme which was carried through to their table settings for the reception.
Like any good movie there was a great storyline, tears, laughter, and in the end the guy got his girl.
Karyn & Phil had decided that they wanted some edgy urban photos, as well as some more traditional bridal shots in a garden setting so a month before their big day we drove around central Christchurch to scope out some good graffiti and some of the more picturesque earthquake remains of bricks & rubble, shipping containers and traffic cones.
After the city photos, we took a walk through the botanic gardens in Hagley Park to the memorial seat for Karyn’s dad, who had sadly passed away a few months before the wedding. We stopped as photo opportunities presented themselves, and then had time for Karyn & Phil to spend in remembrance of her dad before heading back to The Elms for the reception.
Here’s my highlight reel from Karyn & Phil’s Rom-Com-Action-Drama Wedding…

The West Coast of New Zealand is known for it’s amazing sunsets. The clouds seem to glow, while the seas continue their thunderous refrain.
